2010 Convention of Local 4041
WASHOE MEMBERS HONORED
Washoe Chapter member Debby Frenzi was this year’s winner of the Jerry Cianci Award, for her many years of dedication. April 7, 2010 was declared by the Governor a day in honor of Debby for her devotion to the causes of state employees, as well as serving honorably on the Employment Management Committee “EMC”. Debby is pictured here, with State Board members Harry Schiffman and Russ Alfano looking on.
Washoe Chapter member Tracy Dupree was this year’s recipient of the Ellen Steiner Award, for outstanding contributions in the previous year.
Congrats to Debby and Tracy! Well done!
SUCCESS FOR SAFETY
Welfare safety concerns addressed successfully! Negotiations between
Local 4041 and the administration resulted in additional security guards being posted at the Reno District Office. Needs for services are escalating, possibly due to unemployment.
2010 AFSCME LOCAL 4041 CONVENTION HIGHLIGHTS
The 2010 AFSCME Local 4041 Convention was held at the Gold Dust West Casino Hotel in Carson City, on April 29 thru May 1st. Members from all over the state attended. A lot of hard work and fun happened with the guidance of our local staff, as well as attendees from the International. The AFSCME Local 4041 State Board of Directors had their elections during this convention; Resolutions were submitted and reviewed. Special committees and action team workshops were held. Delegates for the upcoming International Convention in Boston were voted on, with Washoe Chapter’s own Peggy Bohn being selected to attend with the group. Peggy was also appointed as co-chair to a committee addressing issues surrounding the Nevada System of Higher Education.
