Today, AFSCME Local 4041 reached an agreement with the state of Nevada over longevity pay and other provisions of AB522. This agreement comes after AFSCME members took legal action in December over the state's refusal to award longevity pay to all eligible state workers.

The Executive Board of AFSCME Local 4041 is pleased to announce our biennial CONVENTION is hereby called to convene at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, July 7, 2020, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. and will remain in session until such time as it has given full consideration to such matters as legallymay be brought before it.
At the end of April, the PEBP board met to take action to reduce the agency’s budget as requested by the Governor. After receiving recommendations from AFSCME Local 4041, the PEBP board voted to make cuts that do not require a reduction in current health care benefits for active workers.

Like their counterparts in larger cities, AFSCME members for rural governments have stepped up to serve their communities during this COVID-19 crisis. In smaller, rural communities across Nevada, these workers are essential to all aspects of city services. Local 4041 members in the Public Works Department for the City of West Wendover, Nevada, continue working to ensure city services run smoothly during this emergency.
Administrative assistants are key players in any office, setting the tone of any workplace and keeping services running smoothly. Like many other AFSCME members across Nevada, Deb Hinds, an Administrative Assistant at the medical clinic at the Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services campus (NNAMHS), has had to adjust to a new way of continuing to provide vital services to our community during the coronavirus crisis.

As many of us continue to ‘stay home for Nevada’ to slow the spread of the coronavirus, thousands of Nevada public service workers continue to head into work to provide services that are vital to the health, safety and wellbeing of our communities. Working with AFSCME members who brought safety issues at the workplace due to COVID-19 to the attention of our union rep Jeanine Lake, Jeanine reached out to the Department of Veteran Affairs to ensure the agency is prioritizing worker safety.
