AFSCME Lobby Day: Recap and Take Action!

To mark Nevada State Employee Appreciation Week, AFSCME Local 4041 members took to the state legislative building this week to lobby for improvements to the lives and working conditions for ALL Nevada state employees.

We met with several Democratic and Republican state legislators and shared how understaffing impacts the important work we do. While we are fighting for better wage for all state employees in the next biennium budget, our legislative priorities also include funding our 3% arbitration award, restoring longevity pay, reallocating PERS contribution for a lower employee contribution, improvements to our collective bargaining arbitration timeline, paid family leave, and more. With these investments in state workers, we can improve staff retention and recruitment.

Our work is not over. As the state budget gets finalized in the coming weeks, we must continue to remind our legislators how chronic understaffing has affected our lives, our work, and the services our communities need – and ask for support on our legislative priorities.

Join your fellow state employees in sending a letter to your legislator today!

When our communities need us the most, Nevada state employees are there, providing vital services that keep our communities strong. We are coming together as AFSCME Local 4041 to fight for a better future for all Nevadans. And that future starts now.
