AFSCME Local 4041 Supports SB135

Today, Harry Schiffman, President of AFSCME Local 4041, released the following statement after State Senator David Parks introduced SB135, a bill to provide collective bargaining to state employees:

“Nevada state employees are dedicated public servants who keep our communities safe, maintain our roads and universities and provide support to struggling families. Currently, state employees are the only public service workers in Nevada that do not have the right to bargain collectively over our workplace safety and conditions, salary and benefits. Collective bargaining will give us seat at the table to create real changes in our communities and workplace.

“We thank Sen. Parks for his leadership on this bill that will bring a long overdue right to state employees. Local 4041 members look forward to working with the Legislature and Governor Steve  Sisolak to make collective bargaining a reality this year.”

AFSCME Local 4041 members are thousands of Nevada state employees who provide vital services to our communities every day.
