AFSCME Local 4041 members have mobilized to move the state to reimburse 2021 furloughs this year. We’ve put pressure on the Governor and at IFC meetings requesting American Rescue Plan Act funds to reimburse furloughs now, rather than wait until next year’s legislative session.

This week, we received notice from the State of Nevada that the Interim Finance Committee will consider using ARPA funds to reimburse state employees who took furlough leave from Jan 1 – June 30, 2021.

Our voice matters and together we can make things happen!

As AFSCME members, we know nothing is given – change only happens when we speak up and take action. This was true during the budget fight in 2020, and it is true now.

IT IS UP TO YOU TO ENSURE THE STATE FOLLOWS THROUGH WITH REIMBURSING FURLOUGHS – JOIN YOUR COWORKERS IN CALLING INTO THE IFC MEETING ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 15 AT 9AM TO ASK THE LEGISLATURE TO APPROVE FURLOUGH REIMBURSEMENTS.

If approved, reimbursement of furlough leave taken will be included in one of your January 2023 paychecks. If you have since left state service, the state is working on a solution for those workers to receive monies owed.

Being an AFSCME member means joining your coworkers in advocating for improvements to our lives, working conditions and the services we provide. If you’re not a member yet, click here to join your coworkers in building a stronger voice on the job.
